General Stainless – high-quality<br />

standard stainless steel<br />

<strong>Outokumpu</strong>'s General Stainless division produces high-quality standard stainless steel in the form of coil, sheet and long<br />

products. Europe is the main market for these products. In this standard high-volume market segment, cost efficiency,<br />

high quality and delivery reliability are key competitive advantages.<br />

<strong>Outokumpu</strong> aims to maintain its cost leadership in standard stainless steel grades by exploiting the advantages offered<br />

by the Group's integrated stainless steel facility in Tornio, Finland.<br />

The main applications for General Stainless products are in industrial segments such as chemicals and petrochemicals,<br />

construction and energy-related industries, pulp and paper, catering and households.<br />

Customers are primarily distributors and processors who stock and process stainless steel to serve end-customers.<br />

General Stainless consists of the Tornio Works, the Sheffield Melt Shop and Long Products. The majority of the Group's<br />

stock and processing units and its sales companies are also reported under General Stainless. As of 1 March 2011, the<br />

Kloster plant in Sweden, previously part of Thin Strip/Specialty Stainless is also reported under General Stainless.<br />
