This river can be divided into two strata. Upstream ofthe park headquarters at Msemhe (Figure<br />
4) the river is moderately wide tlowing over rooks. There were occasional deep pools.<br />
Downstream of Msembe it is a very wide and sandy meandering river. The water is very<br />
shallow and there are few pools. <strong>Crocodile</strong> densities wete medium in the upstream section<br />
(4.67 crocodiles/km) and low in the downstream section (0 15 crocodiles/km).<br />
Most of the crocodiles were congregated in large pools upstream from Msembe (31.72<br />
crocodiles/km) and once past the Foxtreks camp (Figure 4) densities were low (0 86<br />
crocodiles/km). There was a noticeable decrease once the park boundary was reached.<br />
