Overview
This section describes three ways to communicate, configure, and calibrate
the SVI II AP. The Smart Valve Interface is truly a smart device capable of:
Streamlining the valve positioning function
Providing diagnostic information
Improving precision of process control
Communicating critical information locally and remotely
The four available communication tools listed below offer increasing levels of
functionality.
1. Local Display and Push Buttons
2. HART Handheld Communicator
3. ValVue 2.4
4. Any HART capable Host loaded with the DD for the SVI II AP
Local Display and Pushbuttons
HART Handheld Communicator
The most basic and easiest digital interface is the local pushbutton and display
option mounted on the SVI II AP. It is available at any time and provides
immediate local access to most configuration, calibration, and fault messages.
It is approved for use in Explosion Proof and Intrinsically Safe installations in
Hazardous Areas.
The HART handheld communicator is a universally available tool that provides
all the accessibility of the local button and display. The HART tool has the
functionality to upload and download configurations, enter alphanumeric
messages and set the custom characteristic numerical parameters. The HHC
375 is approved for Intrinsically Safe use in Hazardous Areas in accordance
with SVI II AP Approvals and in accordance with the HHC approvals. See
Appendix C and Chapter Six for additional information concerning this device.
