Richard’s heir, Edward, was born Tuesday 25 th February 1566 169 <strong>and</strong> during his<br />
lifetime he is recorded as owning l<strong>and</strong>s at Alderton, Surrenden, Grittleton, Clapcote,<br />
Henton, Littleton, Semington, Steeple Ashton, Luckington <strong>and</strong> Hullavington 170 .<br />
He married Elizabeth Jennings, daughter of Ralph Jennings from Churchill 171 in<br />
Somerset, <strong>some</strong>time before 1589. This date is set as there is mention of "Elizabeth<br />
nowe wife of said Edward Gore " in an Indenture between<br />
“Edward Gore of Surrenden. co Wilts <strong>and</strong> Richard Gawen of<br />
Gryttleton co Wilts, yeoman, being a lease by the former to the<br />
latter of one fourth part of the farm of Gryttleton” 172 .<br />
