Possible outcomes of the investigation are (1) that the allegation is not warranted and cannot be<br />
substantiated, (2) a negotiated settlement of the complaint, or (3) that the allegation is<br />
substantiated, requiring a recommendation to the President that disciplinary action be taken.<br />
C. Faculty<br />
In the case of a faculty member subject to the provisions of the Parts A or B of the 1977 tenure<br />
settlement, the Tenure Committee will be involved. Discipline or dismissal of a faculty member<br />
will follow the procedure outlined in the <strong>LaGrange</strong> <strong>College</strong> Tenure Regulations.<br />
For those faculty members subject to the provisions of the 1999 tenure policy, the Promotion and<br />
Tenure Committee will be involved according to the procedures defined in the 1999 tenure<br />
policy.<br />
D. Appeals<br />
Faculty, staff, administration, and students can appeal a final decision regarding a complaint to<br />
the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees.<br />
E. Special Circumstances<br />
If the President of the <strong>College</strong> is the accused, then the case is referred to the Executive<br />
Committee of the Board of Trustees.<br />
If the chairperson of the Review Committee is the accused, then the complaint shall be submitted<br />
to the President of the <strong>College</strong>. If any member of the Review Committee is the accused or for<br />
reason of prejudice must be recused, then the President of the <strong>College</strong> shall appoint another<br />
member.<br />
F. Confidentiality<br />
The right to confidentiality of all members of the <strong>College</strong> community will be respected in both<br />
formal and informal procedures insofar as possible.<br />
<strong>LaGrange</strong> <strong>College</strong> is committed to preventing harassment. To that end, this policy and these<br />
procedures will be printed in appropriate <strong>College</strong> publications. In addition, educational programs<br />
will be conducted annually by the <strong>College</strong> to (1) inform students, faculty, staff, and<br />
administration about identifying harassment and the problems it causes; (2) advise members of<br />
the <strong>College</strong> community about their rights and responsibilities under this policy; (3) train<br />
personnel in the administration of this policy. The Harassment Policy and Procedures will be<br />
issued to all incoming students and personnel.<br />
ATHLETIC PROGRAM<br />
<strong>LaGrange</strong> <strong>College</strong> is a member of the NCAA Division III and the Great South Athletic<br />
Conference. The <strong>College</strong> colors are red and black. Intercollegiate teams compete in women's<br />
soccer, basketball, cross country, volleyball, softball, swimming, lacrosse, and tennis; and men's<br />
baseball, football, basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, swimming and tennis. It is the<br />
philosophy of <strong>LaGrange</strong> <strong>College</strong> that the team participants are attending college primarily for a<br />
quality education, and no athletic scholarships are offered. The coaching staff is a group of<br />
highly qualified teachers who stress the educational aims of the <strong>College</strong>.<br />
<strong>LaGrange</strong> <strong>College</strong> is committed to a full program of non-scholarship athletics that encourages<br />
the student-athlete to reap the benefits of educationally sound activity that encourages and<br />
