2013 ATLANTA FALCONS VETERAN PLAYERS JUSTIN BLALOCK OFFENSIVE GUARD 63 HT: 6’4” WT: 326 NFL EXP: 73 ACQ: D2A-’07 7th YEAR WITH FALCONS BIRTHDATE: 12/20/83 COLLEGE: UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS TRANSACTIONS • Originally selected as a second round (39th pick overall) draft choice by Atlanta in 2007. • Signed by the Falcons as a free agent on July 31, 2011. 2012 (FALCONS) • Started all 16 games at left guard and helped pave the way for RB Michael Turner to set a franchise record with 60 career total touchdowns. • Paved the way for the rushing attack that gained 167 yards against Seattle (1/13) in the NFC Divisional round. • Part of an offensive line that produced a 300-yard passer (Ryan), a 100-yard rusher (Michael Turner), and two 100-yard receivers (Julio Jones & Roddy White) in a win over Dallas (11/4), which was the third time in franchise history the Falcons have accomplished that feat. • Blocked for RB Michael Turner who recorded his franchise record 27th 100-yard game as a Falcon against Dallas (11/4). • Part of an offensive line that helped the Falcons rank sixth in passing offense (281.8), seventh in points per game (26.2), and eighth in total offense (369.1). • Cleared rushing lanes for RB Michael Turner and RB Jacquizz Rodgers as the duo combined for 1,162 rushing yards with 10 touchdowns on the ground. Additionally, the Falcons were one of four NFL teams to boast two backs with 750+ yards from scrimmage. CAREER • In five seasons, has started in all 94 contests he has participated in while blocking for the most dynamic offense in Falcons history. • Protected QB Matt Ryan while the signal caller set franchise records for for attempts, completions, completion percentage, yards, and touchdowns in 2012. • For the first time in four years, was one of three Falcons rookies to start in the season opener and one of two Atlanta rookies to start on the offensive line, which ranked second to the Baltimore Ravens in 2007. COLLEGE • A unanimous All-America and All-Big 12 Conference first-team selection at Texas as a senior. • Finalist for the Lombardi Award and Outland Trophy. • Member of the Longhorns National Championship team of 2006. • Earned All-Big 12 Conference first-team honors from the Associated Press as a junior. • Named first-team Freshman All-America by the Football Writers Association of America and Sporting News after his freshman redshirt season. AUDIBLES Blalock is one of five players drafted before the arrival of GM Thomas Dimitroff and Head Coach Mike Smith remaining on the roster. PERSONAL • Three-year starter at offensive guard and earned first-team All-America honors from USA Today as a senior, and was also a first-team All-State Class 5A, all-area and all-district selection. • One of five finalists for the 2002 Watkins Award, which is presented to the nation’s top African- American high school scholar-athlete. • Blocked for RB Michael Turner while he set franchise records for rushing touchdowns and 100-yard games between 2008-12.
