TRANSACTIONS
• Selected as a fifth round (135 th pick overall) draft
choice by Atlanta in 2010.
• Signed by the Falcons on September 6, 2012.
2012 (FALCONS)
• Played in all 16 games as a reserve cornerback and
on special teams. Totaled 14 tackles (10 solo) with
two passes defensed.
• Served as the Falcons primary punt returner, logging
21 punt returns for 163 yards, a 7.8 yards-per-return
average and 18 fair catches.
• Notched a season-high six tackles (five solo) against
Denver (9/17).
CAREER
• In three seasons with the Falcons, has appeared in
32 games with four starts while posting 36 tackles
(24 solo) with three interceptions and eight passes
defensed.
• Appeared in 11 games with four starts. Posted 20
tackles (13 solo) with two interceptions and five
passes defensed in 2011.
• Played in two games as a rookie in 2010 and posted
two tackles (one solo), one interception and one
pass defensed.
EXTRA POINTS
• In 2010, a participant in the Atlanta Falcons Rookie
Club sponsored by UnitedHealthcare of Georgia, this
program gives the players the opportunity to take
part in several charitable events.
COLLEGE
• Started 28 of 40 career games at cornerback and
totaled 95 tackles (62 solo), six interceptions, 15
passes defensed, two fumble recoveries and one
forced fumble.
• Served as a punt returner for the Sooners and ran
back 29 career kicks for 346 yards and an average
of 11.9 yards per return.
• Earned All-Big 12 first-team honors following his junior
and senior seasons (2008-’09).
AUDIBLES
Franks started playing football at a young age but had
to stop until he reached high school because he had
an allergy to grass.
PERSONAL
• Attended Union High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma
as a junior and senior and attended Owasso High
School as a freshman and sophomore.
• Named the Tulsa World Oklahoma Player of
the Year and first-team all-state as a senior.
• In 2005, was selected as the runner-up for the
State Defensive Player of the Year award from
The Oklahoman.
• Helped the Redskins to two Class 6A state titles as
a junior and senior. Recorded seven interceptions,
returning three for touchdowns as a senior, while
adding five scores as a tailback and three TDs as a
return specialist.
