Session 2: Newspaper Ads Include Goods <strong>and</strong> Services ______________________________<br />
Materials<br />
Newspapers (sale <strong>and</strong> several help-wanted sections; 1 sale section per student)<br />
Glue <strong>and</strong> paper<br />
Instructional Activities<br />
1. Pass out a sale section <strong>of</strong> the newspaper to each student.<br />
2. Ask students to find examples <strong>of</strong> goods in the newspaper, cut them out, <strong>and</strong> glue them on a piece <strong>of</strong> paper<br />
under the heading ―Goods.‖<br />
3. Pass out several copies <strong>of</strong> ―help-wanted‖ sections <strong>of</strong> the newspaper for students to share. Have them go<br />
through the ads to find services that people are willing to provide.<br />
4. Ask students to cut out sample help-wanted ads (services) <strong>and</strong> glue them on a piece <strong>of</strong> paper under the<br />
heading ―Services.‖<br />
5. Discuss with students how newspapers advertise both goods <strong>and</strong> services.<br />
