Instructional Activities<br />
1. Read the teacher-selected books about goods <strong>and</strong> services in the past <strong>and</strong> present. Discuss the goods <strong>and</strong><br />
services in the story.<br />
2. Create a list on chart paper <strong>of</strong> goods <strong>and</strong> services featured in the books. This list will be used later in the<br />
session.<br />
3. Use a Venn diagram to compare the goods <strong>and</strong> services <strong>of</strong> past <strong>and</strong> present time.<br />
4. Divide students in small groups to create a story. Give each group one index card with a service from one <strong>of</strong><br />
the books written on it. Have the group write/illustrate a story about this service.<br />
5. Have students read their stories to classmates. As students read their stories, have classmates write down the<br />
goods/services in the stories.<br />
6. Discuss the goods <strong>and</strong> services in each story.<br />
