VIII.<br />

MEETINGS<br />

The Commission will meet as <strong>of</strong>ten as necessary at the call <strong>of</strong> the Chairperson. The<br />

Designated Federal Official approves the call <strong>of</strong> the Commission meetings and agenda in<br />

advance and is present at all meetings. The Attorney General has determined that<br />

Commission meetings will not be open. Meetings will be conducted and records <strong>of</strong> the<br />

proceedings kept as required by the Federal Advisory Committee Act. Ad hoc committees<br />

will meet, as required and agreed to by the Chair <strong>of</strong> the Commission and the Designated<br />

Federal Office, to research and prepare recommendations to the Commission.<br />

I. ESTABLISHING AUTHORITY<br />

This Commission is established under the authority <strong>of</strong> the Attorney General.<br />

J. DELEGATION OF AUTHORITY TO APPOINT MEMBERS<br />

The Attorney General or the Attorney General’s designee has the authority to approve<br />

members to the Commission.<br />

K. TERMINATION<br />

This charter expires on March 31, 2002, but is subject to renewal.<br />

L. DATE OF CHARTER<br />

The date <strong>of</strong> this charter is August 17, 2001.<br />
