9. the bed and breakfast operation shall not generate traffic congestion or<br />

parking demands within the District and shall not produce a public offence or<br />

nuisance of any kind.<br />

7.20 Signs<br />

.1 These regulations apply to every sign on a parcel. Signs are permitted only<br />

for the following purposes:<br />

a) to denote a home occupation, home industry, or bed and breakfast<br />

operation use on the property on which the sign is lo<strong>ca</strong>ted; xiv<br />

b) to denote the name of the owner or the name or address of the parcel;<br />

c) to advertise the sale or rental of the parcel or of a building lo<strong>ca</strong>ted on the<br />

parcel on which the sign is lo<strong>ca</strong>ted;<br />

d) to advertise the sale of agricultural produce, livestock or product grown,<br />

raised or produced on the farm;<br />

e) to denote a public utility use or company on the property on which the<br />

sign is lo<strong>ca</strong>ted;<br />

f) to denote a church use or community hall use or building on the property<br />

on which the sign is lo<strong>ca</strong>ted;<br />

g) to advertise or denote a commercial or administrative and institutional<br />

use on the property on which the sign is lo<strong>ca</strong>ted.<br />

h) to promote or advertise a politi<strong>ca</strong>l party or <strong>ca</strong>ndidate from the date of the<br />

election <strong>ca</strong>ll to five days after election day;<br />

.2 Signs permitted under Section 7.20.1 a) and b) are limited to one per parcel<br />

and must not exceed a total sign area of 0.6 m 2 .<br />

.3 Signs permitted under Section 7.20.1 c) and d) are limited to one per parcel<br />

and must not exceed a total sign area of 3 m 2 nor a height of 3.0 metres.<br />

.4 Signs permitted under Section 7.20.1 f) are limited to either one freestanding<br />

sign or one (1) fascia sign. <strong>No</strong> sign must exceed a total sign area of<br />

7.5 m 2 nor a height of 4.0 metres.<br />

.5 Signs permitted under Section 7.20.1 e) and g) are limited to one fascia sign<br />

and one free-standing sign. <strong>No</strong> sign must exceed a total sign area of 23 m 2<br />

or a height of 6.5 metres.<br />

.6 Subject to Section 7.20.1, no part of any sign must be lo<strong>ca</strong>ted within 1.0<br />

metre of any parcel line.<br />

.7 All illuminated signs must be illuminated from a source internal to the sign.<br />

Illuminated signs are permitted only within the General Commercial and<br />

Tourist Commercial zones, except in the <strong>Naramata</strong> Townsite Development<br />

Permit Area as outlined in Plan Map Schedule ‘D’ of <strong>Bylaw</strong> <strong>No</strong>. <strong>2459</strong>, <strong>2008</strong><br />

(<strong>Naramata</strong> Official Community Plan), where signs should be illuminated from<br />

the exterior only.<br />
