The Synergy of Success
...Why Agora Gallery Works
Over the course of several months Angela decides
upon a cover for ARTisSpectrum, creates
new feature articles, selects contributing writers,
chooses the artwork that appears in the reviews/
profiles and works on the layout with Sabrina and
the Graphic Designer. As soon as one issue is finished,
she begins to work on the next.
Featured artists receive copies to distribute to
their contacts. ARTisSpectrum is accessible on
Agora’s website ad infinitum and is available in
glossy hard copy at the gallery while being distributed
through venues such as Borders Bookstores,
museums throughout New York, professional
locations and hotels.
The good news is that we are currently working
on a significant distribution arrangement that
will greatly increase ARTisSpectrum readership
across NYC… and nationally.
Are you getting out of breath reading all that this
woman does? I am!
Lastly, let’s look at Angela’s critical role as director of
sales. If a client either sees artwork in person or online
and wishes to know more or purchase a piece,
then several email, phone, or face-to-face discussions
happen with Angela… It’s always a personal
contact 1:1 between Angela and the buyer.
Angela’s the touchstone with any client because
she can confidently talk about the artists, give
their biographies, talk about techniques, discuss
about how a piece of art might fit into a client’s environment
or she might email high resolution images.
She says: My ideas come from dialogues:
I visualize, actively listen and really get to know
what the client is saying… everything opens up
when we communicate verbally.
She concludes by musing: Mine is the dream
career because I have the privilege of meeting
and interacting with artists, collectors and the
general public from around the whole world…I am
inspired to create something new every day and
this means everything to me!
Sabrina Gilbertson
… Assistant Director
Sabrina is Angela’s strong
right arm, assisting artists
at various points throughout
their representation, ensuring, with the rest of the
Agora staff, that their common goals are being
met. Primarily, she is the point of contact for ARTmine,
which involves image handling, uploading
and maintenance of individual pages on the site.
Additionally, she has a substantive role in ARTis-
Spectrum magazine, assisting Angela with overall
magazine production.
She’s delighted when receiving positive feedback
from an artist, which she passes along to the rest
of the staff. She says: When our artists are happy,
we’re happy, and having the opportunity to share
a kind word or two that has been said about Agora
with the rest of the team makes the day for me.
While working with an artist, Sabrina keeps an
open mind and level head, and always appreciates
the same in return: It’s this collaboration with
the artist that maintains balance, and paves the
path for mutual success. We are all about teamwork
here; each staff member is a vital piece of the
working puzzle. I think a big part of our synergy
is certainly our shared need for creativity. We are
constantly feeding off of each other’s originality.
It’s moments like these that make the days interesting
and unique (never a dull moment!), and
drive the dedication and spark of the seriously
successful Agora team.
Nellie Scott
… Exhibition Coordinator
Nellie manages the logistical
aspects of the gallery, working
closely with the Director and
Assistant Director ensuring that all visual standards
are exceeded while supervising installation
with the installation team, art handling, and
framing services.
