An imaginative spirit dances through Richard Griffith’s paintings, playfully
infusing his works with a fresh and bright enthusiasm. Happiness glows in
the saturated colors he uses, filling these compositions almost to overflowing.
Griffith’s unique style is simple yet complex, mixing rich and luminous hues
of pigment in multicolored layers and repeated mosaics of pattern. Working
in acrylic and ink on paper, the artist paints vibrant landscapes which speak
to the child within, creating enchanted worlds brimming with whimsy and joy.
Currently writing and illustrating a children’s book as part of a collaborative
effort, Griffith also has built a successful career in architectural design whose
influence can easily be seen in the structures and forms found in his art.
Born in England and now living in New Jersey, Richard Griffith’s architectural
designs have been featured in the New York Times, NJ Monthly, and
Architectural Digest. His artwork has won acclaim with exhibits in both the
U.S. and Europe.
Helene Leane
Feather Flag Gouache on Paper 4” x 6”
Helene Leane’s monotypes are created through a unique process involving
stencils and several layers of gouache pulled from a gelatin plate. With an
emphasis on the play of light and shadow, Leane depicts semi-representational
landscapes - opalescent ridges, oceanic depths and frosted atmospheric
valleys that meet sections of darkened, aggressive abstraction. The residue
of written text also plays a part, adding a mysterious element to the overall
work, as if the artist has included a half-solved puzzle for the viewer to ponder.
Informed by her work as a professional Art Therapist, Leane remarks that
the works tap into a ‘universal source’ made manifest through unconscious
collective longings. Using her experience and her sensitive understanding of
what it is to be human, Leane follows the trace of an elusive essence lurking
at the depths of our innermost unconscious selves.
Helene Leane currently lives and works in Newcastle, Australia. She received
her Master of Visual Arts Teaching from the University of Sydney.
Powerful cars, motorcycles, and heavy machinery fill Emanuele Conti’s
surfaces, the fenders gleaming with reflected light. Cranes and bulldozers
stand poised at rest like sleeping giants, made heavy by the weight of their
immensity. An eye for detail is at the heart of Conti’s sleek contours and
chrome, and an appreciation for the power and authoritative force of these
mighty engines.
With oils and mixed media on canvas, Conti paints his photorealistic works
in pure colors, true to life and perspective. In his contemporary vision of the
modern world the artist cuts in close with a tightly angled view of strut and
wheel, while under his gaze street scenes become portraiture, capturing
glimpses of the personality behind the machine and of the artist himself.
Born in Bergamo, Italy where he graduated from the Carrara Academy of Art,
Emanuele Conti has made a big impression on the art world in recent years,
gaining international recognition in competitions and exhibitions throughout
Italy, France, London and the United States.
