Educated at the famous dramatic school Ecole Florent, in Paris, Marion
Descamps’ paintings depict an encounter between the plastic and
performative arts. Boundless, and etched in a fluid and sensuous line, her
semi-obscured figures depict the ‘play’ of actors in a scene where line, color
and emotion are drawn between bodies in time and space. Color is a particular
focus of Descamps’, providing a means of immediately accessing the viewer’s
sense of memory and emotionality. Working primarily on canvas and plywood,
the artist conceives of her images as a ‘skin texture’ which traverses the life
of the artist, studio and model; where intersubjectivity determines the mood of
the work and emotions ‘cross my brush to the other one’s glance.’ Invoking
themes around the social position of women, the works possess totemic and
dreamlike qualities – lyrical in their sense of movement and enhanced by the
dramatic overlay of opaque and semi-opaque regions of color.
Born in Lille, Marion Descamps currently lives and works in Paris.

Terry Wang
Terry Wang’s oil on canvas paintings reveal mystical properties, with
ancient and esoteric lineages. Playful, visceral and opulent in their use of
color, Wang’s thickly applied oil on canvas images span the realm of moonlit
landscape, still life and uninhibited abstraction. Wang is particularly influenced
by the six months he spent traveling alone through 12,000 miles of Tibet’s
Guge Kingdom, which the artist affectionately calls ‘Heaven,’ yet he is as
much at home producing a still life of blooming flowers as he is painting the
great Tibetan landscapes. Whatever his subject matter, Wang’s thickly applied
paint produces a milky, luscious tactility that splits the application of the image
twofold: these carefully rendered works of art appeal to body and mind, matter
and spirit.
Terry Wang was born in 1962 in Taiwan. He was introduced to Chinese
Confucianism at an early age, something that later came to have an impact on
his work. He currently lives and works in Kaohsiung, Taiwan.

With a fascination for the mystical and the sensual, Mark A J Willems
infuses his art with a sensitivity for form and light, creating highly
detailed works which draw upon classical realism with a fresh and surprising
contemporary vision. Nude figures become skewed, stretched and warped,
accentuating the body’s physical features to show the elemental, spiritual and
sexual sides of humanity. Finding freedom in oils on canvas, Willems paints in
a style and method of his own, using a wide variety of brushes, mediums and
wax to create his luminous works.
Willems’ life has brought him to many places both creatively and geographically,
from the isolated outback to Australia’s largest cities and to jobs ranging from
restoring and creating church windows as a stained glass painter in Tasmania to
a successful career for 25 years as an Executive Chef. This mixed experience
contributes to the depth and insight inherent in each of his artworks. He now
builds and installs exhibition stands professionally throughout Tasmania and
Australia while gaining significant international exposure for his sensually
soulful paintings.
