58. Elevator Control (Panel & Hall Call) - Southeast Side at <strong>Pierce</strong><br />

<strong>Annex</strong>.<br />

Elevator car controls are located on a front wall in cars that have center opening doors, and at the side wall or at the front<br />

wall next to the door if the car has side opening doors.<br />

Elevator floor buttons comply with reach range requirements (48” front reach; 54” side reach to centerline of buttons).<br />

Control buttons are square shouldered, and are a minimum of 3/4” and raised 1/8” plus of minus 1/32” above the<br />

sorrounding surface.<br />

Control buttons are illuminated and are activated by a mechanical motion that is detectable.<br />

All buttons are designated by a 5/8” minimum Arabic Numeral, alphabet or other standard sans serif uppercase character,<br />

or standard raised symbol immediately to the left of the control button.<br />

All raised characters are white on a black background.<br />

Grade 2 Braille symbols are located immediately below the raised characters.<br />

Emergency controls (stop and alarm) are a minimum of 35” from the floor.<br />

The centerline of hall call buttons in elevator lobbies are located at 42” above the floor.<br />

Hall call buttons are a minimum of 3/4” in size and raised 1/8” plus or minus 1/32” above the sorrounding surface.<br />

Hall call button provides visual indication that shows each call registered and extinguishes when answered.<br />

Objects adjacent to and below hall call buttons do not project more than 4”.<br />

Hall call buttons are internally illuminated with a white light over the entire surface of the button.<br />

Areas not meeting new construction standards:<br />

3/8” minimum distance between the rows of the control buttons.<br />
