Zhengzhou, Kaifeng, Luoyang and Macao. The FHKI organised a
mission to Vietnam, to help members understand local industrial
developments and explore new business opportunities.
In June, to mark the 10 th anniversary of the establishment of the
Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the FHKI held the
Journey of Hong Kong Industry & the Way Forward forum as one
of the official community-organised events on 13 June 2007 at
the Chiang Chen Studio Theatre of the Hong Kong Polytechnic
University. There was also a mini exhibition from 13 to 15 June
at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Members visited the
exhibition to refresh their memories of the colourful milestones of
Hong Kong industry during the past decade.
During the year, the FHKI received over 60 delegations from the
Mainland, Indonesia, Poland, India, Israel, Japan, Malaysia, Vietnam,
Chile, Thailand, Mexico, UK, USA and Canada. FHKI representatives
attended 34 symposiums in Hong Kong. On these occasions,
members exchanged views on pressing industry issues, established
contacts and engaged in business matching with the delegates.
On 19 March 2008 the FHKI held its Annual Dinner at the JW
Marriott Hotel, which featured Financial Secretary John Tsang
as the guest-of-honour. The Dinner was attended by over 400
members, guests and friends of the FHKI, and included senior
officials of the HKSAR and Mainland government representatives,
consuls-general as well as representatives from leading business
and professional organisations in Hong Kong.
Timely Dissemination of Information
As before, the FHKI disseminated useful business information
through its website, circulars, weekly newsletters and the monthly
journal the Hong Kong Industrialist & PRD Industrialist.
The FHKI website provided the local and
international business community with easy access to information
on current issues and the latest development of matters affecting
Hong Kong industry and business. This site is also a platform for
information on FHKI activities and services, membership details
and recent articles from the Hong Kong Industrialist.
The FHKI also offered a trade enquiry service to assist Hong
Kong manufacturers and overseas importers to establish business
contacts.
Throughout last year, press statements were issued to relay the
FHKI’s views to the community on matters pertinent to trade and
industry. Members received weekly circulars by e-mail or fax, all
of which carried information on a wide variety of issues and on
forthcoming activities of the FHKI. A comprehensive Members’
Directory was published in June 2007 for members’ reference and
for local and overseas buyers who wished to source from particular
suppliers.
