Group 25 Hong Kong Information Technology<br />
Industry Council<br />
The Council continued to support the development of the<br />
information technology industry in Hong Kong at the 21 st<br />
International Computer Expo held between 5 and 8 May 2007.<br />
In August 2007, with co-sponsorship of iProA SIG Venture Capital<br />
and New Business Development of the Hong Kong IT Alliance,<br />
the Council organised the TMT (telecom, media, and technology)<br />
Investments: What do VCs look for? seminar followed by a series of<br />
breakfast talks on Secrets behind VC-funded Companies, Venture<br />
Capital and New Business Development in December 2007.<br />
Practical insights into the most vexing and commonly encountered<br />
issues of getting VC attention by individual IT businesses, SMEs or<br />
budding entrepreneurs were highlighted.<br />
In response to the public consultation on copyright protection in<br />
the digital environment in April, the Council submitted views to<br />
the Government on issues raised in the consultation document that<br />
were of relevance to the IT industry.<br />

討 會 。 另 外 , 協 會 亦 於 同 年 12 月 再 與 有 關 機 構 合 辦 一 連 串 創 業<br />
基 金 早 餐 會 , 與 會 員 分 享 企 業 如 何 獲 得 創 業 基 金 支 持 的 秘 訣 。<br />
關 於 在 數 碼 環 境 中 加 強 保 護 知 識 產 權 的 公 眾 諮 詢 , 協 會 就 文 件<br />
中 與 資 訊 科 技 業 界 有 關 的 議 題 , 於 4 月 向 政 府 提 交 了 意 見 書 。<br />

Group 26 Environmental Industries<br />
The Group continued to serve the interests of local environmental<br />
industries and promote green manufacturing. On 9 August 2007,<br />
Group chairman Daniel Cheng met with Al Gore, former Vice<br />
President of the US, in a function organised by the Association of<br />
Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), to exchange valuable<br />
insights on environmental initiatives undertaken by the FHKI.<br />
The Group invited Dominic Yin, the Group’s ExCom member and<br />
chairman of EESCO P2E2 HK Ltd, to speak to members in August<br />
2007 at a casual lunch gathering. He focused on the important<br />
issues businesses encounter when carrying out energy conservation<br />
and pollution prevention measures in Hong Kong and the PRD.<br />
The Group organised a one-day green management mission on 17<br />
August 2007 to Toppan Printing Co (HK) Ltd and Dunwell Enviro-<br />
Tech (Holdings) Ltd to learn the latest in green management<br />
facilities. It was well attended by over 30 delegates<br />
The Group invited Nixon Chan, senior executive of the HSBC,<br />
to speak on 12 October 2007. During the luncheon, Mr Chan<br />
shared with members how the HSBC’s green equipment financing<br />
scheme can help businesses meet regulatory compliance and save<br />
operating costs.<br />
John Garamendi, lieutenant governor of California, came to Hong<br />
Kong in October 2007 to promote environmental protection in<br />
both Hong Kong and the Mainland. He met with FHKI chairman<br />
Clement Chen and the Group at the Conrad Hotel.<br />
Also in October, the Group invited members to exhibit in the ‘Hong<br />
Kong Pavilion’ at the Eco Expo Asia 2007 to showcase local industry<br />
efforts in environmental protection.<br />
