<strong>Competenz</strong> is the New Zealand Engineering, Food and Manufacturing Industry Training<br />

Organisation (ITO). <strong>Competenz</strong> has been allocated coverage of the following industry<br />

Develops industry relevant unit standards and qualifications.<br />

Administers on-job and off-job training with industries and training providers.<br />

Provides subsidies for on-job and off-job training.<br />

Coaches, mentors and registers workplace assessors. This includes providing<br />

quality systems to ensure that assessment results are consistent across different<br />

workplaces.<br />

Provides ongoing support for employers and employees in workplace training<br />

and assessment.<br />

Sets rules and guidelines for how assessment should be conducted, and<br />

completes quality assurance checks.<br />

Managing the registration of workplace assessors and their scopes.<br />

Coaching and supporting workplace assessors.<br />

Providing assessment tools (assessment guides and model answers) for many<br />

unit standards, and learning resource material for selected skills/knowledge.<br />

Sending workplace assessment results to NZQA for registration onto applicable<br />

Record of Achievements (ROAs).<br />

Arranging and contracting off-job training for candidates (apprentices) as per<br />

their related training plan.<br />

Advising off-job training options for workplace candidates.<br />

Supporting everybody involved in the training and assessment process.<br />
