GSC Sentinel-2 PDGS SRD Issue 1 Revision 2 (draft) - 25.07.2010 GMES-GSEG-EOPG-RD-09-0028 page 190 of 204 Requirement Category / Class Operational Description This requirement class includes those entire PDGS requirements that describe HOW the PDGS shall perform each previously identified functionalities (e.g. via dedicated interfaces, automatically, through specific operating modes and states, etc). In this sense these requirements shall define how the operability of the PDGS shall be. This requirements class refers to those PDGS requirements that shall define: Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Safety (RAMS) Sizing Interface • How long must a PDGS system function under normal and abnormal conditions? Minimum times (Minutes, hours, days) should be specified as to how long the system should operate before incurring downtime, reboots, or going off-line (RELIABILITY) • Length of time the PDGS system should be ready for use is in-service, or operational. Often it is specified as a percentage of time during a given interval. Can also specify or point to what actions to take if the time or percentage drops below that level (call maintenance, issue a report, etc.) (AVAILABILITY) • Types and level of maintenance (User, Level 1, Field, preventative, and manufacture) should be defined as well as distribution method for updates, who will perform the maintenance, and any documentation required (related to documentation requirements). Others include time between repairs, time to repair, and any warranty information (MAINTENANCE) • Those qualities the system must have to ensure safety of the PDGS system. These include rounded edges, grounding, hazardous materials, noise levels, and all the hazards and faults that could threaten PDGS safety (SAFETY) This requirements class refers to those PDGS requirements that impose on the PDGS design & capabilities sizing constraints (e.g. volume of data to be stored, acquired along mission lifetime, etc. etc.) This requirements class refers to those PDGS requirements that provides specifications for each identified interface the PDGS may have towards the external world.
