<strong>Student</strong> Records and Privacy<br />

All student records are maintained at the Admissions and Records Office in<br />

accordance with the provisions of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of<br />

1974 (FERPA). Copies of FERPA are available at the Admissions and Records<br />

Office. All rights apply equally to currently enrolled and former students.<br />

Right to Review and Challenge<br />

You have the right to inspect, review and challenge the contents of all educational<br />

records related to you. If you wish to inspect or challenge your records, you must<br />

make a request in writing to the Chief Instruction Officer.<br />

Privacy Rights of <strong>Student</strong>s<br />

Your education records will not be released to any individual or agency without<br />

your written consent; the following exceptions apply:<br />

Your education records are open to <strong>College</strong> employees acting in the<br />

course of their duties and to state and federal officials as defined in<br />

Section 54618 of the California Administrative Code.<br />

The <strong>College</strong> may grant access to your education records for emergency<br />

purposes and for court orders as permitted in Sections 54620 and<br />

54622 of the California Administrative Code.<br />

The <strong>College</strong> may release certain “directory information” unless you<br />

inform the Admissions and Records Office within 10 days after classes<br />

begin that certain, or all of such, information cannot be released without<br />

your consent.<br />

<strong>Student</strong> Directory Information<br />

Directory information is information contained in an education record that would not<br />

generally be considered harmful or an invasion of privacy if disclosed. It includes,<br />

but is not limited to: your name, address, telephone listing, participation in officially<br />

recognized activities and sports, weight and height if a member of an athletic team,<br />

degrees, honors and awards received, and the most recent educational agency or<br />

institution attended.<br />
