Extended Opportunity Programs & Services (EOPS) Cooperative Agencies Resources for Education (CARE) EOPS/CARE is a state-funded program designed to offer additional financial assistance and special support services to help and encourage those students affected by social or economic disadvantages. EOPS/CARE is committed to helping students gain access to the resources they need to succeed in college and achieve their academic goals. You are encouraged to complete a short application to see if you qualify for EOPS/CARE services. Applications are available through Linda Vaughn, EOPS Program Manager, 283-0202, ext. 249, or CARE Program Manager, Jodi Beynon, 283-0202, ext. 288. Financial Aid The FRC Financial Aid Office assists students in obtaining funds to help meet educational and living expenses while attending college. How Do I Apply? 1. Complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) on line at www.FAFSA.gov 2. Once the Financial Aid Office receives the electronically processed financial aid application from the federal processing center, it will be evaluated. The Financial Aid Office will construct a preliminary financial aid package and it will be sent to you. This package will include a preliminary award letter and will also request additional supporting documentation. 3. You can print out the required forms and check the status of your financial aid from your Student Portal, for assistance on how to do this, instructions are on our website. www.frc.edu/financialaid/ What Is Available? Fee Waiver for California Residents: Board of Governors (BOG) Fee Waivers, Dependents of Veterans Waiver… Eligible students may have a portion or all enrollment fees waived; does not have to be repaid. Grants: Federal Pell Grant, Federal Supplemental Education Opportunity Grant, Bureau of Indian Affairs Grant; Cal Grants B and C, Student Support Services Program…..Money based on financial need; does not have to be repaid. Scholarships: FRC Foundation, Academic Senate, Faculty Union, California State Employee Association #712, Classified Senate, and several others maintained on file….Money that may be awarded on merit and/or for financial need; does not have to be repaid. Work: Federal Work Study; various student employment opportunities on or off campus….Money earned by the student working through the college, generally for minimum wage. Loans: Federal Direct Loans, Subsidized and Unsubsidized Student Loans, Parent PLUS Loans (Loans for parents)….Money borrowed; must be 35
