Financial Aid<br />
The FRC Financial Aid Office assists students in obtaining funds to help meet<br />
educational and living expenses while attending college.<br />
How Do I Apply?<br />
1. Complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal <strong>Student</strong> Aid) on line at<br />
www.FAFSA.gov<br />
2. Once the Financial Aid Office receives the electronically processed financial<br />
aid application from the federal processing center, it will be evaluated. The<br />
Financial Aid Office will construct a preliminary financial aid package and it will<br />
be sent to you. This package will include a preliminary award letter and will<br />
also request additional supporting documentation.<br />
3. You can print out the required forms and check the status of your financial aid<br />
from your <strong>Student</strong> Portal, for assistance on how to do this, instructions are on<br />
our website. www.frc.edu/financialaid/<br />
What Is Available?<br />
Fee Waiver for California Residents: Board of Governors (BOG) Fee Waivers,<br />
Dependents of Veterans Waiver… Eligible students may have a portion or<br />
all enrollment fees waived; does not have to be repaid.<br />
Grants: Federal Pell Grant, Federal Supplemental Education Opportunity Grant,<br />
Bureau of Indian Affairs Grant; Cal Grants B and C, <strong>Student</strong> Support<br />
Services Program…..Money based on financial need; does not have to<br />
be repaid.<br />
Scholarships: FRC Foundation, Academic Senate, Faculty Union, California<br />
State Employee Association #712, Classified Senate, and several others<br />
maintained on file….Money that may be awarded on merit and/or for<br />
financial need; does not have to be repaid.<br />
Work: Federal Work Study; various student employment opportunities on or off<br />
campus….Money earned by the student working through the college,<br />
generally for minimum wage.<br />
Loans: Federal Direct Loans, Subsidized and Unsubsidized <strong>Student</strong> Loans,<br />
Parent PLUS Loans (Loans for parents)….Money borrowed; must be<br />
