II. Trade Skill: Be competent in:
1. Instructing and carrying out
machine erection, setting, overhauling,
conversion and repairs,
and in following instructions
from his superior and also
instructing his assistants.
2. Interpreting the instructions in a
technical manual which has been
translated into Chinese.
3. Handling and using engineer's
tools and textile gauges.
4. Using hand tools to straighten
bent shafts and rollers.
5. Making simple textile gauges.
6. Checking machine parts for wear
and making a decision as to
whether a repair or replacement
is necessary.
7. Checking that machine guards
are always in position.
III. Skill Standard:
Factories should make their own
standards of skill but a qualified
mechanic should be a skilled
fitter, be able to read, write and
solve simple mechanical calculations.
He should also understand
the construction, working
principle and operation of
machinery in one or more
sections of a spinning mill.
IV. Trade Tests:
1. Read and understand an engineering
drawing of a given
machine part.
2. Find the dimensions of a
machine part from a given
drawing.
3. Correct all settings to the required
tolerances on two given
machines in a spinning mill
