Job Description:
Replacing empty roving bobbins,
in the creel of a ring spinning frame,
with full ones, piecing roving ends,
changing ring travellers, piecing ring
yarn ends.
I. Trade Theory:
1. Know the purpose of ring
spinning.
2. Know the dangerous parts and
safety devices on a ring spinning
frame.
3. Know the names of the main
parts of a ring spinning frame.
4. Understand the reason why
different colours of bobbins
should be used for different roving
or yarn counts and the importance
of not allowing rovings
or yarns of different counts to
become mixed.
5. Be aware of the importance of
good and clean piecings.
6. Be aware of the importance of
removing double thickness or irregular
rovings from the roving
bobbins.
7. Know the different types and
numbers of travellers and their
relation with yarn counts.
8. Have a knowledge of detecting
spinning faults and understand
the importance of taking corrective
action immediately.
II. Trade Skill: Be competent in:
1. Creeling roving bobbins, piecing
roving ends, piecing yarn ends
and starting ends on a spinning
frame.
2. Changing ring travellers on a
ring spinning frame.
