Nursery schools - Kindergarten
In Germany children at the age of 3 - 5 years attend nursery schools. There
are as well confessionally bound and municipal nursery
schools/kindergarten. Many special concepts such as Walldorf- or
Montessori Kindergartens which are usually independent schools that are
not funded by the communities but from alternative sponsors. In Germany,
nursery school registration is permitted only within the area in which the
child resides. The registration time can be quite long. It is therefore strongly
recommended to apply for a place in a municipal nursery school very early
(at least 1 year in advance).
