External Studies
In addition you can take up external studies from the Rhine-Neckar Metropolitan Region. Correspondence
universities are universities which make it possible to acquire a regular academic degree exclusively by
distance education. In contrast to studying at a university, studying by correspondence takes place off
campus e.g. from home. Students receive their teaching material by or E-Mail in the form of study letters.
The curriculum in distance education is not different compared to conventional studies at university, since
all homework, examinations, oral exams etc. have to be done. To conclude the course at the end of the
degree a written assignment as well as a final examination must be taken. The most well-known
correspondence university in Germany is the Correspondence University Hagen.
