SIR: I have the honor to submit the following report upon the work of the Bureau of Internal Revenue for the fiscal year ended June 30, 1949: GENERAL The Bureau of Internal Revenue is responsible for the assessment and collection of all taxes imposed by any law providing internal revenue. It also has responsibilities under statutes which, while not imposing taxes, have some relation to internal revenue. These include the Federal Alcohol Administration Act (49 Stat., 977), as amended (27 U. S. C. and Sup., 201-212); the Liquor Enforcement Act of 1936 (49 Stat., 1928, 27 U. S. C., 211-228); the Federal Firearms Act (52 Stat., 1250, 15 U. S. C., 901-909); and the Stabilization Act of 1942 (56 Stat., 765), as amended (50 U. S. C., App. Sup., 961-971).
