Road closure<br />

The Code requires that roads are permanently closed if no longer required for timber harvesting or<br />

management purposes, and temporarily closed under adverse weather conditions that could<br />

compromise the road surface and water quality. Temporary road closures were assessed as being<br />

largely managed appropriately, with closures recorded and gazetted in most, but not all cases.<br />

Several instances were also identified where roads had not been permanently closed when no longer<br />

in use.<br />

The audit identified one coupe where a permanent road had not been closed as required (C21).<br />

However, the vegetation on the road suggested that traffic did not appear to have been using the road<br />

and therefore a No impact EIA risk rating was recorded for this non-compliance. The audit also<br />

identified one coupe (C9) where a permanent road had been closed, however, the drainage was found<br />
