2.3.2 <strong>Module</strong> Compliance Elements<br />

Audits should include assessment against applicable criteria that have been identified<br />

in the audit workbooks in <strong>Module</strong>s 3 – 7 of this toolbox. Compliance with the<br />

applicable criteria and procedures will determine whether the principles of forest<br />

sustainability are being met.<br />

The workbooks included in the modules correspond to the assessment of defined<br />

compliance elements as follows:<br />

<strong>Module</strong> 3 – Tactical Planning<br />

• TRP/WUP development and approval process<br />

<strong>Module</strong> 4 - Operational Planning<br />

• No specific compliance element exists, however this module includes a process<br />

audit to review linkages between TRP/WUP approvals and operational planning<br />

systems (including, but not limited to, consideration of heritage, exclusion zones,<br />

silviculture, hazard identification, soil erosivity).<br />

<strong>Module</strong> 5 – Harvesting and Closure<br />

• Forest Coupe Plans, including a sub element on Exclusion Zones<br />

• Operational Provisions, (ie. weather, seasonal provisions)<br />

• Water Quality, River Health and Soil Protection, including sub-elements:<br />

◦ Waterways<br />

◦ Buffers<br />

◦ Filters<br />

◦ Slopes<br />

◦ Camp Maintenance, Fuel Storage & Waste Disposal<br />

◦ Water Catchments<br />

• Biodiversity Conservation including sub-elements:<br />

◦ Habitat Trees<br />

◦ Rainforest<br />

◦ Forest Health<br />
