Organization Profile
Relief International - Schools Online (RI-SOL), based in California, has a record of expertise in the implementation of community
development programs, including emergency crisis operations. Since 1990, our programs support communities in transition from crisis to
recovery with the development of sustainable strategies. In 1994, RI-SOL became the first US based NGO to develop a sustained presence in
Tajikistan. To ensure long-term sustainability, all programs are designed with the participation of teachers, schools administrators, and local
communities. Over 400 schools in 36 countries have benefited from our programs. Today, we are the leading global organization in the
promotion and implementation of new Information and Communication Technology (ICT) methodologies in schools.
Past and Current Programmes
The Global Connections and Exchange Program for Central Asia has established 27 Internet Learning Centers (ILCs) in secondary schools
across Tajikistan. The program's main goal is to increase global dialogue and educational opportunities by installing modern computer
equipment with Internet access in schools, as well as developing training and learning projects for teachers and students.
The Global Connections and Exchange Program for Tajikistan activities include:
• Training educators on using computers and the Internet in classroom teaching
• Partnering with US schools on student-centered civic education projects and teacher exchanges
• Providing public access and programs for community members and disadvantaged groups
• Developing sustainable practices for schools and communities
Future Programming Direction
