Women in Agriculture Day<br />

The KVK, Santhapur celebrated “Women in Agriculture<br />

Day” at village Budukunia in Mahanga block<br />

of Cuttack district in Odisha on 4 December, 2011.<br />

Farmwomen interacted with the Director (Acting), CRRI<br />

and chief guest of the programme Dr. Anand<br />

Prakash,and other scientists from the CRRI and the KVK,<br />

Santhapur. In this programme, 150 farm women, school<br />

dropout girls, rural youths and farmers from Budukunia<br />

and nearby villages participated . One quiz programme<br />

was conducted for farm women and prizes were distributed<br />

by the Chief Guest.<br />

Gopinath Sahu Memorial Lecture<br />

The 20 th Gopinath Sahu Memorial Lecture was delivered<br />

on the topic “Gender Issues in <strong>Rice</strong> Farming”<br />

by Dr. Krishna Srinath, Director, Directorate of <strong>Research</strong><br />

on Women in Agriculture, Bhubaneswar on 1 November,<br />

2011 at CRRI, Cuttack.<br />

Release of KVK Newsletter on the ocasion of Women in<br />

Agriculture Day<br />

World Food Day<br />

The World Food Day was celebrated on 16 October,<br />

2011 at village Rudrapur of Tangi-Choudwar block.<br />

More than 200 farmers of villages Chadaipada,<br />

Ganeshwarpur, Rudrapur and Jaripada participated<br />

in the programme that was organized by the KVK,<br />

Santhapur. Dr. Anand Prakash, gave away awards to<br />

two progressive farmers and certificates to school children<br />

who participated in a quiz competition.<br />

The Hindi Fortnight was celebrated at CRRI,<br />

Cuttack as well as at CRRI Regional Station, Hazaribag<br />

from 14 to 30 September, 2011. Various competitions<br />

were conducted during this occasion among the staff<br />

of CRRI and the winners were awarded with cash prize<br />

and certificate.<br />

Hindi Workshop<br />

A one day Hindi workshop on “General Provident<br />

Fund and its Advances and Withdrawal: Noting and<br />

Drafting in Hindi” was organized at CRRI, on 24 November,<br />

2011. Fourteen employees from the CRRI participated<br />

in the workshop. Shri G. Kalundia, Assistant<br />

Director (Official Language), CRRI, Cuttack spoke on<br />

the efforts at the CRRI in using Hindi for official noting<br />

and drafting.<br />
