Awards/Recognition<br />

The Times of India and Tefla’s “Think Odisha Leadership<br />

Award for Educational <strong>Institute</strong> of Excellence<br />

2011” was awarded to CRRI for its path-breaking rice<br />

research that led to the development of various technologies<br />

involved tapping genetic resources for breeding<br />

rice varieties with higher yield potential, better grain<br />

quality and increased tolerance to diseases and pests.<br />

Dr. T.K. Adhya, Director, CRRI received the Award from<br />

Shri Naveen Patnaik, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha<br />

on 27 August, 2011 in Bhubaneswar.<br />

Dr. T.K. Adhya received the ICAR Norman Borlaug<br />

Award 2010 from Shri Sharad Pawar, Hon’ble Union<br />

Minister of Agriculture, Government of India during<br />

the ICAR Foundation Day on 16 July, 2011 at New<br />

Delhi. Dr. T.K. Adhya was given this award for his outstanding<br />

studies on “Methane Production in Paddy<br />

Fields” that involved “Significant contributions in the<br />

frontier areas of agro-environmental science and natural<br />

resource management with tropical rice soil as the<br />

model ecosystem.”<br />

Dr. Anand Prakash was awarded the Honorary Fellowship<br />

of the Society of Biological Sciences & Rural<br />

Development, Allahabad, for his outstanding contribution<br />

in the field of Plant Protection on 11 November,<br />

2011.<br />

Dr. Dipankar Maiti, Principal Scientist, CRRI Regional<br />

Station, Hazaribag was awarded the Prof. MJ<br />

Narasimhan Medal for the best paper published in the<br />

journal Indian Phytopathology titled “Enhancing Native<br />

Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Association to Improve Phosphorus<br />

Nutrition of Rainfed Upland <strong>Rice</strong> through Cropping<br />

Systems” in joint authorship with Drs V.K.<br />

Barnwal, Sulochona K. Rana, M. Variar and R.K. Singh.<br />

Dr. Maiti was given the award during the 64th <strong>Annual</strong><br />

Meeting of the Indian Phytopathology Society held at<br />

University of Hyderabad, Hyderabad on 4 December,<br />

2011. Dr. Dipankar Maiti was also nominated as a Fellow<br />

of the society for 2011.<br />

During the 65 th Foundation Day the ‘Best Worker’<br />

awards were given to the following CRRI staff.<br />

Longest Service: Shri A. Pattnaik (Principal Scientist);<br />

Shri B.V. Das (T-5); Shri K.B. Agasti (PS) and Shri<br />

Bulu Naik (SSS).<br />

Best Worker: Dr. G.J.N.Rao (Principal Scientist); Dr.<br />

S.K.Pradhan (Senior Scientist); Shri Prakash Kar (T 7-<br />

8); Shri Arun Kumar Mishra (T-5); Shri Brundaban Das<br />

(T-3); Shri Basant Kumar Sahoo (AAO); Shri Janardan<br />

Nayak (PA); Shri Sanjay Kumar Sahoo (Assistant);<br />

Kumari Jali Das (LDC), CRRI Regional Station, Gerua<br />

and Shri P. Bhoi (SSS).<br />
