90/07 STATE EMERGENCY SERVICE – APPOINTMENT OF MUNICIPAL
EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT COORDINATOR AND DEPUTY
MUNICIPAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT COORDINATOR

At its meeting held on 19 March 2007, Council resolved as follows:
“That Council advise the Minister for Police and Emergency
Management that they wish to nominate Mr Chris Fagg for the
position of Municipal Emergency Management Coordinator for the
Waratah-Wynyard municipal area and Mr Frank Lawes for the
position of Deputy Municipal Emergency Management Coordinator for
the Waratah-Wynyard municipal area both nominations being made in
accordance with section 23(2) of the Emergency Management Act
2006.”
Correspondence has subsequently been received from the Director of the State
Emergency Service acknowledging Council’s decision and advising that, as
Mr Fagg and Mr Lawes have been appointed under the transitional provisions
of section 23 of the new Emergency Management Act 2006, formal
reappointment by the Minister is not necessary at this time.
The Director advised that Council will be asked to review the appointments
following the expiration of a two-year period and he requested that his
correspondence to formally advised to Council.
A copy of the correspondence is included in the enclosure document.
OFFICERS COMMENTS
The correspondence provides formal acknowledgment of the appointments of
Mr Fagg and Mr Lawes to the positions of Municipal Emergency Management
Coordinator and Deputy Municipal Emergency Management Coordinator
respectively and it is recommended that the contents of the letter be noted.
