An additional condition to be imposed on AMSA would be as follows:
• Council at its discretion can determine to ‘re-open’ the access at any time
in the future by providing AMSA with 30 days notice of its intention. AMSA
to be responsible for removing the gate if requested by Council.
7. Risk
Were a gate to be installed across Lighthouse Road and access restricted
during the night, there may be some members of the public who would feel
aggrieved at this occurring.
A consultation process has been undertaken and no objections to the proposal
to install the gate were received by the close of the submission period.
The installation of the gate may assist in reducing the incidence of vandalism
at the Lighthouse and prevent possible damage to essential navigation
equipment.
8. Conclusion
This report is presented to Council for consideration.

The Council approve the installation of a gate on Lighthouse Road to limit
vehicular access to the Table Cape Lighthouse during the period dusk to
dawn, subject to AMSA formally agreeing to the conditions imposed by
Council as outlined in this report, and further seek approval from the
Department of Infrastructure Energy and Resources for the installation of the
gate.
