Comment
The report was referred to DPIW for
comment. Mr Huzzey in his response
does not fully concur with the report
and the conclusions drawn. The
response includes comment on the
elevation of the hazard rating for the
dam and highlights the risks
associated with leaving the dam
insitu.
The report by Mr Densley comments
on building envelopes on the lots
below the dam, however these
building envelopes were not put on
the lots to safeguard against dam
collapse as the original approval
called for the removal of the hazard.
The envelopes are a function of
suitable building sites for founding
and on-site disposal of effluent. The
envelopes do not preclude the owners
from developing the lot in the normal
manner of residential living. As a
result significant assets may well be at
risk should a future problem occur
with the dam.
Tasmania Fire Service
The support of the Tasmanian Fire
Service in seeking the retention of the
Dam identifies an impost on the
eventual owner of the lot in respect to
access to water and a requirement for
a suitable access point to draw off
water.
It does not identify that the water
supply is the only available drawing
point for water in the event of a fire in
the area. Indeed the fire vehicles
would have to travel over Camp
