INFRASTRUCTURE STRATEGIES<br />

Improve Public Water Supply And Sewer Service<br />

1. Continue efforts to identify and develop water supply sources in a timely fashion.<br />

2. Continue efforts to protect water quality in the system.<br />

3. Pursue an emergency water supply interconnection with the City <strong>of</strong> Norwich from the Deep River Reservoir.<br />

4. Address and monitor sewer inflow and infiltration issues in order to preserve treatment capacity for local needs.<br />

Encourage Improvements To Other Utility Services<br />

5. Work with electricity providers in their efforts to improve electrical service in <strong>Colchester</strong>.<br />

6. Consider converting overhead to underground service where the costs <strong>of</strong> such conversion will be shared by adjacent<br />

property owners and others.<br />

7. Develop a <strong>Town</strong> policy on the location and frequency <strong>of</strong> street lights, especially in the <strong>Town</strong> Center.<br />

8. Work with SNET and other communication service providers in their efforts to expand and improve their service<br />

(quality and reliability) in <strong>Colchester</strong>.<br />

9. Encourage expanded telephone services to meet the needs <strong>of</strong> residents and businesses.<br />

10. Encourage expanded cable services in order to meet the needs <strong>of</strong> residents and businesses in <strong>Colchester</strong>.<br />

11. Direct efforts towards relocating above-ground wired utilities underground, especially in the <strong>Town</strong> Center.<br />

Address Other Infrastructure Issues<br />

12. Conduct a <strong>Town</strong>-wide drainage study in order to provide a comprehensive evaluation <strong>of</strong> drainage needs and issues.<br />

13. Monitor state and federal legislation and regulations that influence the provision and/or regulation <strong>of</strong> wireless<br />

services.<br />
