East Hillside neighborhoods, with extensive <strong>in</strong>vestment <strong>in</strong> hous<strong>in</strong>g rehabilitation and home ownership <strong>in</strong>itiatives<br />
achieved. The plans are be<strong>in</strong>g revisited and merged <strong>in</strong>to one Hillside Neighborhood Plan.<br />
• Extensive plann<strong>in</strong>g work on development of a new multi-modal center, cross-city trail, connectivity <strong>in</strong> the<br />
downtown, and plans for passenger rail from the Tw<strong>in</strong> Cities area<br />
• Completion of an Arts-based Revitalization Plan for the Hillside neighborhoods with <strong>in</strong>vestment <strong>in</strong> artistdesigned<br />
banners, benches, and trash receptacles and development of an Arts Corridor Plann<strong>in</strong>g Committee<br />
<strong>in</strong> the Hillside. Also open<strong>in</strong>g of a Music Resource Center for youth at Sacred Heart<br />

• Extended hours and patroll<strong>in</strong>g of the skywalk system by the Clean and Safe Team<br />
• Segway patroll<strong>in</strong>g of streets and park<strong>in</strong>g structures by the Clean and Safe Team<br />
• Community volunteer efforts to clean Lake Place Park and trim overgrowth<br />
• City-wide surveys show an <strong>in</strong>crease <strong>in</strong> the percentage of people feel<strong>in</strong>g safe <strong>in</strong> the downtown dur<strong>in</strong>g the<br />

• Successful Blight Team to deal with problem property issues and Blighted and Nuisance Properties Collaborative<br />
established to coord<strong>in</strong>ate deal<strong>in</strong>g with vacant and blighted properties citywide with focus on the<br />

• GDC has funded additional trees and landscap<strong>in</strong>g that were planted downtown<br />
• Clean and Safe Team clears snow from crosswalks and handicapped accessible areas and has strong public<br />
support with renewal of the Special Service (aka BID) District<br />
