Jean Scott, the owner of Strategies for Livable Communities and Manag<strong>in</strong>g<br />
Partner of SLC/LLC, specializes <strong>in</strong> communications, outreach, and consensus<br />
build<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> public plann<strong>in</strong>g processes. She has 40 years of experience <strong>in</strong> manag<strong>in</strong>g<br />
complex plann<strong>in</strong>g and public outreach processes, build<strong>in</strong>g collaborative<br />

of the American Plann<strong>in</strong>g Association (Florida APA). Her articles on best practices <strong>in</strong> Florida vision<strong>in</strong>g, the<br />
use of peer review panels <strong>in</strong> plann<strong>in</strong>g and vision<strong>in</strong>g processes, and features of successful charrettes were published<br />
<strong>in</strong> Florida Plann<strong>in</strong>g, the newsletter of Florida APA.<br />

Stuart Sirota is the found<strong>in</strong>g pr<strong>in</strong>cipal of TND Plann<strong>in</strong>g Group, a consult<strong>in</strong>g<br />
firm dedicated to the <strong>in</strong>tegration of susta<strong>in</strong>able transportation, land use, and civic<br />
engagement. Stuart leads and participates <strong>in</strong> projects <strong>in</strong> the Mid-Atlantic and<br />
throughout the U.S., help<strong>in</strong>g communities become more pedestrian-, bicycle-,<br />
and transit-friendly. He assists governments and community-based organizations<br />
seek<strong>in</strong>g to enhance livability through transformative change. Some of the areas <strong>in</strong> which he specializes <strong>in</strong>clude<br />
design<strong>in</strong>g “complete streets”, walkable community and corridor master plans, transit oriented development<br />
plann<strong>in</strong>g, and safe routes to school programs. Before start<strong>in</strong>g his firm, Stuart was a professional associate with<br />
Parsons Br<strong>in</strong>ckerhoff, where he led the land use-transportation <strong>in</strong>tegration group <strong>in</strong> Baltimore. Prior to that, he<br />
was a senior planner with the Maryland Transit Adm<strong>in</strong>istration, where he advanced <strong>in</strong>itiatives to connect public<br />
transit as a tool for community revitalization. Stuart is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners,<br />
and was a 2003 <strong>Knight</strong> Fellow <strong>in</strong> Community Build<strong>in</strong>g at the University Of Miami School Of Architecture.<br />
He was recently featured <strong>in</strong> the new book, “Becom<strong>in</strong>g an Urban Planner” (American Plann<strong>in</strong>g Association<br />
and Wiley Press, 2010), which profiles the <strong>in</strong>novative work of lead<strong>in</strong>g American planners.<br />
