On July 28, 2011, the Supervisory Board recorded the resignation of<br />

Mr Anand Mahindra from his offi ce as a member of the Supervisory<br />

Board, due to potential confl icts of interest between <strong>Schneider</strong><br />

<strong>Electric</strong> and the MAHINDRA & MAHINDRA group liable to arise due<br />

to the two groups developing their distribution business in India.<br />

The Supervisory Board, which met on December 15th, 2011,<br />

has decided to co-opt Mr Xavier Fontanet as a member of the<br />

Supervisory Board. Xavier Fontanet, 63 years old and of French<br />

nationality, is Chairman of the Board of Essilor International.<br />

Employees<br />

On March 31, 2011, <strong>Schneider</strong> <strong>Electric</strong> announced the launch of a<br />

capital increase reserved for employees under the Group employee<br />

savings plan (plan d’épargne salariale). This offering, which is in<br />

line with the Group’s policy to develop employee shareholding,<br />

is proposed to Group employees in fourteen countries, including<br />

Corporate Social Responsibility<br />

On February 11, 2011, <strong>Schneider</strong> <strong>Electric</strong> announced the launch<br />

of Go Green in the City, a new type of creative case competition<br />

involving students of eight countries across the world. Finals of<br />

the challenge were held in Paris on June 23-24, 2011. More than<br />

500 teams representing 1000 candidates from eight countries<br />

participated in this challenge.<br />

On May 6, 2011, the City of Rueil-Malmaison west of Paris decided<br />

to take part in the “100 chances – 100 emploi s ” campaign proposed<br />

by <strong>Schneider</strong> <strong>Electric</strong> and Saint-Gobain. The “100 chances – 100<br />

emploi s ” programme created by <strong>Schneider</strong> <strong>Electric</strong> is designed<br />

to meet a community’s economic needs while helping to restore<br />

equal opportunity for young people age 18-30 who come from<br />

disadvantaged neighborhoods. It offers individualized solutions to<br />

ease the way into long-term employment for young people with few<br />

or no credentials, as well as for young graduates who are victims<br />

of discrimination. Targeted exclusively to young people from diffi cult<br />

neighborhoods, the programme federates and engages local<br />

stakeholders.<br />

On July 1st, 2011, one year after the start of Haiti’s rebuilding<br />

effort agreement, the <strong>Schneider</strong> <strong>Electric</strong> Foundation celebrates<br />

the inauguration two professional training workshops dedicated to<br />

On November 8 , 2011, <strong>Schneider</strong> <strong>Electric</strong> presented Villasol,<br />

a solution for village electrifi cation. The Villasol solution is a<br />

solar- powered micro off-grid facility for decentralised rural<br />

electrifi cation. This standardised solution consists in photovoltaic<br />

panels, a battery bank and a battery charging station that enable a<br />

communal recharge system.<br />

On July 1st, 2011, Mrs Annette Clayton is appointed as Executive<br />

Vice President of Global Supply Chain and Member of the Executive<br />

Committee of <strong>Schneider</strong> <strong>Electric</strong>. Annette Clayton comes from Dell,<br />

where she was Vice President of Global Operations and Supply<br />

Chain. Annette Clayton is American, and has an impressive career<br />

in supply chain, which she developed initially in General Motors.<br />

Group. This offering reinforces the link between the Group and its<br />

employees by giving them the opportunity to be more involved in<br />

the developments and future performance of the Group.<br />

On July 4, 2011, Danone, Crédit Agricole, <strong>Schneider</strong> <strong>Electric</strong> and<br />

CDC Climat announced the creation of L ivelihoods, an innovative<br />

carbon-offset fund serving rural communities. Livelihoods is a<br />

unique new investment fund that gives fund partners access to<br />

carbon credits with “strong social impact.” It does this by seeking<br />

the best balance between value generated for local communities<br />

and the value of carbon credits returned to investors.<br />

On July 26, 2011, <strong>Schneider</strong> <strong>Electric</strong> announced that it is expanding<br />

its sponsorship of the Solar Decathlon through at least 2013,<br />

including Solar Decathlon US in September 2011, Solar Decathlon<br />

Europe in 2012 and Solar Decathlon China in 2013. Created in<br />

2002 by the U.S. Department of Energy (DoE), the Solar Decathlon<br />

competition challenges students from leading universities worldwide<br />

to design, build and operate energy-effi cient solar-powered houses.<br />

On December 7, 2011, <strong>Schneider</strong> <strong>Electric</strong> triumphed at Gigaton<br />

Awards ceremony during UN climate change talks in Durban, South<br />

Africa. The 2011 Gigaton Awards were powered by Carbon War<br />

Room, The Carbon Disclosure Project and Greenstar; presented by<br />

The Gigaton Throwdown, The World Climate Summit and Greenbiz.<br />

The Gigaton Awards are designed to inspire and challenge<br />

businesses to run their business in the most carbon effi cient<br />

way possible.<br />
