Population and employment densities have been mapped out below and overall, <strong>the</strong>y show higher<br />
population densities, mainly in suburbs of KL and <strong>the</strong> regional centres such as Shah Alam, Klang<br />
and Petaling Jaya (see Figure 2.2). The greatest concentrations of employment are in <strong>the</strong> city<br />
centre of Kuala Lumpur. Recent trends have highlighted <strong>the</strong> increasing concentration of<br />
employment in <strong>the</strong> major centres which has implications for <strong>the</strong> choice of appropriate modes to<br />
serve <strong>the</strong>se centres. In areas where <strong>the</strong> concentrations of demands are highest, rail is <strong>the</strong> most<br />
effective and efficient <strong>the</strong> transport mode for that area.<br />
