As a result of <strong>the</strong> public, industry and <strong>SPAD</strong> requirements discussed within <strong>the</strong> previous section a vision<br />

for future taxi services has been defined along with a series of core objectives.<br />

<strong>Taxi</strong>s will be a recognisable part of an integrated Greater KL public transport system. They will<br />

provide a quality and professional service across <strong>the</strong> region that offers a real choice for users and<br />

become a respected brand internationally in terms of service levels and quality.<br />

Key Conclusions<br />

International experience shows quality regulation of vehicles and drivers is common, numerical<br />

limitation of licences is not.<br />

Provision of taxis per capita is relatively high in GKL/KV compared to o<strong>the</strong>r cities.<br />

Key lessons can be learnt from international experience.<br />

Role of taxis is likely to evolve.<br />

Public requirements and Industry capabilities will drive <strong>the</strong> route <strong>SPAD</strong> needs to take with licensing<br />

processes.<br />
