戰 國 時 期 , 有 中 華 「 商 祖 」 之 譽 的 白 圭 認 為 , 一 個 人 要 想 在 商 業 界 取 得 成 功 , 需 要 具 備
「 智 、 勇 、 仁 、 強 」 四 種 特 質 , 還 要 有 如 孫 武 、 吳 起 等 軍 事 家 一 般 的 謀 略 , 和 治 國 統 兵
的 要 求 一 樣 高 。
中 華 五 千 文 明 的 浸 潤 下 , 中 國 的 商 業 界 誕 生 了 一
在 群 將 儒 家 思 想 與 商 道 相 結 合 的 「 儒 商 」。 他 們 既
有 儒 生 的 道 德 學 識 , 又 有 商 人 的 才 幹 智 慧 ; 既 注 重 個 人 生
意 的 誠 信 經 營 、 穩 步 發 展 ; 又 有 著 為 國 為 民 、 造 福 天 下 的
遠 大 抱 負 。 儒 商 在 歷 史 上 取 得 的 巨 大 成 功 , 代 表 著 中 國 傳
統 人 文 思 想 「 仁 、 義 、 禮 、 智 、 信 」 等 , 在 風 起 雲 湧 的 商
業 界 同 樣 有 著 非 凡 的 意 義 和 價 值 。 本 期 , 就 讓 我 們 通 過 幾
個 小 故 事 , 來 體 悟 一 下 「 儒 商 」 的 經 營 智 慧 。
一 、 以 信 為 本
誠 信 經 營 , 是 每 一 個 成 功 「 儒 商 」 的 不 二 法 則 。 中 國
近 代 著 名 的 「 紅 頂 商 人 」 胡 雪 巖 曾 說 :「 信 用 是 人 的 第 二
生 命 。」 那 他 又 是 如 何 以 信 用 成 就 了 自 己 富 甲 天 下 的 商 業
帝 國 ? 所 有 商 家 都 知 曉 的 誠 信 道 理 , 在 他 手 中 又 煥 發 出 了
怎 樣 不 同 尋 常 的 力 量 呢 ?
胡 雪 巖 的 「 阜 康 錢 莊 」 剛 開 業 不 久 時 , 來 了 一 位 特 殊
的 客 人 。 這 位 軍 官 名 叫 羅 尚 德 , 在 戰 場 上 拚 殺 了 十 三 年 ,
辛 辛 苦 苦 存 下 來 一 萬 二 千 兩 銀 子 的 俸 銀 。 最 近 , 他 接 到 命
令 要 到 江 蘇 打 仗 。 行 軍 途 中 隨 身 攜 帶 一 筆 巨 款 很 不 方 便 ,
可 兵 荒 馬 亂 一 時 又 找 不 到 可 靠 的 人 去 託 付 。 情 急 之 下 他 來
到 了 「 阜 康 錢 莊 」, 想 把 錢 存 在 這 裏 , 心 中 又 不 禁 疑 慮 ,
自 己 若 是 不 幸 戰 死 沙 場 , 錢 莊 是 不 是 會 私 吞 了 這 筆 錢 。
為 了 消 除 羅 尚 德 的 疑 慮 , 胡 雪 巖 請 來 鄉 紳 作 證 , 又 讓
賬 房 寫 了 一 張 存 據 給 他 。 羅 尚 德 本 來 只 想 找 個 地 方 把 錢 存
Traditional Confucian values — “benevolence,
righteousness, propriety, wisdom, and trust”
— sound like rather staid notions, more suitable
for a refined scholar of literature than a go-go
entrepreneur. But cases abound through Chinese
history of Confucian businessmen, who built vast
commercial empires relying on those ideas.
Take the case of Hu Xueyan, a banker who went out of
his way to be fair and to make good on a commitment,
contrary to the conventions of the time.
Right makes might
“Credibility is the second life of a man,” Hu once
said, and demonstrated it as owner and operator of
Fookang Bank. During the Qing dynasty, a man named
Luo Shangde, who was often called to battle, needed
a place to store the 12,000 taels of silver he had accumulated
from a lifetime of military service. He was
preparing for a new campaign in Jiangsu, and couldn’t
take the coins with him, nor could he find a reliable
person during wartime to leave them with. He eventually
happened across Fookang Bank.
Hu, the owner of the bank, promised Luo that that
he would not keep the money if Luo died in battle,

When fire ravaged a village one day during the Song Dynasty, Pei, a Chinese shopkeeper who followed Confucian principles, let his own shop burn. Instead of saving it,
he left straight away and bought building materials from a nearby town, supplies that his neighbours would soon need. He was heartily welcomed when he returned,
and profit boomeranged back to him, even though his only thought was for others.
下 , 並 未 想 要 利 息 , 胡 雪 巖 卻 堅 持 按 照 三 年 三 千 兩 的 利 息 付
他 , 並 保 證 如 果 羅 尚 德 陣 亡 , 他 會 把 連 本 帶 息 一 萬 五 千 兩 銀 子
寄 到 他 家 中 。 喜 出 望 外 的 羅 尚 德 揣 上 存 據 就 奔 赴 戰 場 。 誰 知 ,
他 這 次 作 戰 負 了 重 傷 。 臨 終 前 , 羅 尚 德 托 付 兩 位 老 鄉 前 往 「 阜
康 錢 莊 」 取 錢 , 帶 回 給 他 家 鄉 的 親 人 。
可 是 , 羅 尚 德 沒 來 得 及 把 存 據 交 給 他 們 , 這 兩 位 老 鄉 只 得
抱 著 試 試 看 的 想 法 , 兩 手 空 空 來 到 錢 莊 要 錢 。 店 面 夥 計 自 然 不
肯 , 將 事 情 稟 告 給 了 胡 雪 巖 。 胡 雪 巖 在 查 明 了 兩 人 的 身 份 後 ,
毫 不 猶 豫 地 將 連 本 帶 息 共 一 萬 五 千 兩 銀 子 , 一 分 不 少 地 付 給 了
兩 人 。 這 事 情 很 快 在 軍 隊 中 不 脛 而 走 , 官 兵 們 紛 紛 將 錢 存 入 「
阜 康 錢 莊 」, 錢 莊 得 以 飛 速 發 展 , 很 快 成 為 分 號 遍 佈 大 江 南 北
的 , 最 具 實 力 的 錢 莊 。
此 事 後 來 流 傳 甚 廣 , 被 認 為 是 胡 雪 巖 日 後 成 為 商 業 巨 賈 的
關 鍵 點 之 一 。 胡 雪 巖 不 因 顧 客 的 變 故 而 違 背 自 己 的 承 諾 , 他 由
此 建 立 的 信 用 , 恰 是 開 設 錢 莊 的 金 字 招 牌 。

over three years. During battle, Luo’s worst fear
came true — he was fatally wounded. In his will, he
had asked friends from his hometown to go to the
Fookang bank and retrieve the money for his family.
They arrived at the bank without a receipt and
were quickly refused. But Hu heard about the matter,
and began making enquiries. After confirming
that the men were who they said they were, he released
the15,000 taels without hesitation. The news
spread like wildfire, and the Fookang Bank became
the most sought-after bank in the country, because
many other financiers would have simply kept the
money after the customer died. Fookang Bank
branches sprang up across China.
