FAKE IT WITH PRODUCT
After shampooing and conditioning with some heavy hitting
volumising products, use a volumising mousse or spray and
massage into damp hair. These products work by coating each
hair fi bre with polymers and other coating agents, plumping
each strand of hair to give the illusion of thicker hair.
Applied to the roots, volumising styling products help to “lift”
hair away from the head to give a more va-va-voom effect to
your hair. Blowdry after applying for maximum effect.
Avoid using numerous styling products at once as this
will more than likely weigh your hair down and defeat the
original purpose!
HEAT IT UP
For hair to go from no to whoa, you’ll want
to heat things up! Always invest in a goodquality
hairdryer. Start by lifting one section at
a time straight up in the air and blowdry the
roots; keep hair in place until cool and repeat
with remaining sections of hair. You can also
try pushing all hair to one side and blowdrying
the roots, and then repeat with the other side.
Blowdrying upside down is also a foolproof trick
to create more volume – no technique required!
Styling tools such as curling irons, hot rollers
and fl at irons (did you know there are now also
heated ceramic root volumisers?) can give
hair oodles of volume – let’s face it, wavy hair
always looks bigger!
Curling irons et al are great to have up your
sleeve if you’ve let your hair dry naturally without
a blowdry and need some extra bounce.
