HOPE TURNS 20
Operation Restore Hope Australia is a
not-for-profi t, non-government charity
founded by Sydney plastic surgeon
Dr Darryl Hodgkinson. It calls upon a
team of plastic and oral and maxillofacial
surgeons to repair cleft lips and palates for
underprivileged children in the Philippines.
Three teams of volunteers are sent to the
Phillippines, and each mission typically
lasts one week.
As well as the provision of surgeries and
health care, the volunteers of Operation
Restore Hope also provide equipment and
develop the skills of the local medical staff
to enable the continuation of care once
the mission is complete.

COSMOPROF ASIA 2014
Almost 60,000 visitors from around the world attended
Cosmoprof Asia 2014, which was held in November last year
at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. It was
the biggest-ever show, with 2,363 exhibitors from 42 countries
and regions covering in excess of 81,500 square meters of
exhibition space.
With an exhibition focus on Nails and Accessories,
Cosmoprof Asia 2014 had a dedicated zone showcasing
124 companies representing the full spectrum from nail care
to nail polish, and nail accessories to decorative tools. This
was partnered with International Nail Days, a three-day
programme of presentations by nail artists and industry experts
from Japan, Korea and France.
The comprehensive educational programme at this year’s
show included 13 different presentations over the three show
days covering the widest scope of topics and including spa
and wellness, nail, beauty trends, market updates as well as
innovation and formulation. A total of 775 delegates attended.
The 2015 show will run from November 11-13 at the Hong
Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
