There’s no doubt the number of women seeking breast augmentation
has consistently grown over the past decade. But with this surge in
acceptance and availability comes a very real risk that perspective patients
are becoming somewhat blasé about the risks and potential complications of
breast augmentation surgery.
Everyone’s anatomy is different – the position of the nipple, the amount of
breast tissue, breast shape and symmetry – and the more a patient deviates
from the “norm”, the more detailed and complicated breast augmentation
surgery will be.
‘Lack of experience in breast implant surgery almost invariably can lead to
a poor outcome requiring costly revision surgery to fi x,’ says leading plastic
surgeon Dr Kourosh Tavakoli, based in Sydney’s Double Bay.
