BREAST
AUGMENTATION
THE DECISION TO UNDERGO BREAST AUGMENTATION
SHOULD ALWAYS BE MADE BASED ON THE
EXPERTISE OF THE SURGEON, NOT THE PRICE TAG.
AIMÉE SURTENICH REPORTS.
There’s no doubt the number of women seeking breast augmentation
has consistently grown over the past decade. But with this surge in
acceptance and availability comes a very real risk that perspective patients
are becoming somewhat blasé about the risks and potential complications of
breast augmentation surgery.
Everyone’s anatomy is different – the position of the nipple, the amount of
breast tissue, breast shape and symmetry – and the more a patient deviates
from the “norm”, the more detailed and complicated breast augmentation
surgery will be.
‘Lack of experience in breast implant surgery almost invariably can lead to
a poor outcome requiring costly revision surgery to fi x,’ says leading plastic
surgeon Dr Kourosh Tavakoli, based in Sydney’s Double Bay.
‘Each patient requires lengthy consultations to establish the best surgical
plan to deliver the best results possible, in an environment where the patient
doesn’t feel rushed or pressured but can openly express her goals, motivations
and concerns.’
Specialist training is of the utmost importance to have the technical knowhow
to achieve consistently excellent results. Dr Tavakoli, a fully qualifi ed
plastic and reconstructive surgeon specialising in breast augmentation and
lifting procedures, has performed more than 4,500 breast augmentation and
revision surgeries.
‘I have been privileged to treat a large number of patients and have drawn
from this wide experience to perfect my formula for breast augmentation,’ says
Dr Tavakoli. ‘My expertise lies in creating attractive, natural-looking results with
minimal scarring – for every patient that walks through my doors.’
‘Excellent results can’t be achieved with a cookie-cutter approach – the
whole process from initial consultation and choosing the implant size, shape
and placement to post-operative care must be tailored to the individual.’ csbm
