sind es auch neue wege?
Wir gehen mit dem Motto des antiken Frühlingsfestes
„Ver Sacrum“ und der Botschaft der Secessionisten
durch die kreative Umsetzung neue Wege. Es ist eine
perfekte Metapher für den Life Ball, eine Inspiration für
den Aufbruch und um Althergebrachtes zu verlassen.
Der Versuch, durch Individualität und neue Ausdrucksformen
in Gedanken und im Wirken freier zu sein. De
facto sind das aber Werte des Life Ball, seit es ihn gibt.
Doch über dem Motto „Ver Sacrum — Santa Primavera
— Sacre du Printemps“ steht das Leitmotiv gold.
Das reine Edelmetall, das nie oxidiert. Gold hat etwas
unfassbar Magisches. Verleiht dem einen Segen, dem
anderen vermeintlich größte Macht, wird verflucht und
vergöttert. Es steht für Verschwendungssucht und Eitelkeit,
aber auch für Reinheit, daher ziert es das Heiligste.
Oberflächlich kauft man sich damit Anerkennung, aber
so materiell es ist, kann es doch auch Leben retten.

Diese revolutionäre Ästhetik war Revolte gegen den
Historismus. Ein totaler Umbruch. Frauen befreiten sich
vom Korsett, Künstler arbeiteten außerhalb der Normen.
Freidenkertum, neue Stilmittel, Toleranz in der
Kunst und in der Gestaltung der Architektur und in der
Mode. Und das gilt auch für den Life Ball. Denn das
sind Werte, die der Life Ball auch vertritt. Und plötzlich
kommt man auf einen Trip, bei dem man diese Opulenz
vom Jugendstil auf eine moderne Schiene bringen muss.
the 23rd life ball marks the start of a golden
era. does this involve exploring new avenues?
We are exploring some new avenues with our motto of
‘Ver Sacrum’ taken from the ancient spring festival and
the motto of the secessionists. It is the perfect metaphor
for the Life Ball, an inspiration for a new start and
leaving old things behind. Striving for freer ways of
thinking and acting through individuality and new
forms of expression. In fact these have always been the
values of the Life Ball.
The motto ‘Ver Sacrum — Santa Primavera — Sacre du
Printemps’ is the leitmotif behind gold. A pure precious
metal which never tarnishes. There is something incredibly
magical about gold. It can be a source of blessings
and power and is sometimes cursed, sometimes worshipped.
It stands for extravagance and vanity but also
purity and therefore often adorns sacred things. On a
superficial level, it can buy you recognition but despite
its material nature, it can also save lives.
this time, it’s all about art nouveau. why?
This revolutionary aesthetic was a revolt against historicism.
A radical change. Women liberated themselves
from their corsets, artists worked outside of the norms.
Free thinking, new forms of style, tolerance in terms of
art and design in architecture and fashion. And this
applies to the Life Ball too. These are the values which
the Life Ball represents. Then suddenly you find yourself
thinking you have to express the opulence of the Art
Nouveau in terms that are relevant to today’s world.
