ACTIVITY 3: FINANCIAL SERVICES
Ghana Rural Bank Computerization and Interconnectivity Project (GRBCIP)
The full complement of Consultants, Contractors and Suppliers are all now in place and making progress
with respect to Project timelines.
There were a number of impediments and challenges which were as follows: (i) the complexity of the
Project created inter-dependency challenges, (ii) delays in making advance Payments to the Contractors
supplying Equipment, thus delaying ordering of equipment, (iii) the unsuitability of the proposed Disaster
Recovery Site which necessitated a change of the Site, and (iii) delay in the arrival of the Central Server
for installation.
Strategies adopted to mitigate the challenges include (i) developing a rigorous integrated Implementation
Plan which took care of the various Contractor/Supplier performance and deployment inter-dependencies,
(ii) deploying additional Resources to expedite the Confirmation of Advance Payment Guarantees as
required of Consultants/Contractors in the Procurement process, (ii) liaised with Apex Bank and GhIPSS
for the allocation of an alternative Site at GhIPSS to host the Disaster Recovery Site, and (iv) arranging a
temporary Server which was used as a Central Server prior to the arrival of the main supplies of
Equipment.
With the above challenges and impediments resolved, the Timelines for the Project is on track and
expected to be completed on schedule.
