Invalidity Pension<br />

<strong>and</strong> is msde up of Invalidity PenSiOn <strong>and</strong> Invalidity<br />

Invalidity pension is psid when sichess benefit finishes if one is still incapsble<br />

of work. my earnings rslated psnsion earned is also received in with the benefit.<br />

Invalidity AllowsrIcs<br />

Paid as an addition to invalidity pension if illness began while still under 60 for<br />

mm, or 55 for women. Accept the amounts given unless there is evidence to the<br />

contrary.<br />

(d) Severe dissblsment allowance, NCIP or HNCIP<br />

Severe disablement allowance replaces non contributory invalidity pension from Nov 29<br />

1984. People who were getting that bsnefit will now automatically get severe<br />

disabl~ent allowance instead. Nsrried wxnen can receive the bsnefit if they are<br />

unsble to do normal household duties. Prior to Novsmber 1984 their bsnefit was known<br />

as Housewives non contributory IIIvalidity Pension. The severe disablement allowance<br />

is for psople of working age who haven’ t bsen able to work for at least 28 weeks but<br />

can’t get sickness or invalidity benefit because they haven’t psid snough national<br />

insurance contributions. The smount received may be affected by receipt of other<br />

benefits. The benefit is bsing introduced by age groups.<br />

From Nov 29 1984 for people of 16-34, or 50 <strong>and</strong> over.<br />

Frcm Nov 28 1985, or 50th<br />

Accept the amounts given,<br />

(e) Attendance Allowance’<br />

birthday if scener, psople aged 35-49 yrs .<br />

unless there is evidence to the contrary.<br />

For psople over two years old, who need a lot of looking after because they are<br />

severely dissbled, either . physically .<br />

or mentally. There are two rates. the lower,<br />

for day or night attendance or supervision is S19. 10 a week; the higher, for day <strong>and</strong><br />

night attendance or supervision is E28 .60 a week.<br />

Attendance allowance should be coded on the schedule of the person receiving it,<br />

unless that psrson is under 16 in which case it should bs on sn adult’ s schedule,<br />

usually the mother’s.<br />

(f) Mobility Allowance*<br />

For people aged 5-75 inclusive who are unable or virtually unsble to walk. It iS<br />

intended to help with the extra cost of getting about. The smount is s20 a week.<br />
