Q2(a) ?LAG if the yaar given here is later than the year ●t Q1.
NA = 99.
Q3(b) FLAG if the informant is aged 16 or 17 and the answer here is
‘Yes’.
NB. Spells away from homa as a student should be counted as rnot
living at home’ .
Q3(c) FLAG if the year given here is later than the year at Q1.
NA = 99.
nsy/3
Q3(d) Note that the total here should exclude any spells when the
informant was not living at home, no matter how long they lasted.
NA = 99.
Check the validity of the answer at (d) as follows -
If Q3B is coded 1 - use the year at Q3(c) and the year at Q1 to
work out how long the spell between living with the parents and
becoming an LA tenant lasted. If the number of years at (d) is
greater than the calculated spell, refer to S/V.
If Q3(b) is coded 2 - establish the year in which the informant
was 16 then use the year at Q1 to work out how long the spell
between the age of 16 an? wher,the infarmant became an LA tenant
lasted. If the number of years at (d) is greater than the
calculated spell, refer to S/V.
Q4-6 Discounts depend ok the total length of tima during which the
tenant has rented from any local authority. It does not have to
be cont~nuous. We need to know about any spells, since the date
given at Q1 , when the inform,,nt was not renting frcm a local
author ity.
Q5 Ring the number - 1 digit. ]Lefer 9 or more to S/V.
If the total at Q5 is less than spells at Q6 amend Q5.
If the total at Q5 is greater than the spells at Q6 accept ?5.
(NA(S) will be coded at Q5 in order to eliminate the
discrepancy) .
NOtt?: The time between two periods in an Lr+ tenancy should count as only one
spell, even if there have baen other changes of tenure during that —
time, eg if someone had an LA house, then rented privately, then went
abroad, then lived in his parents’ owner-occupied house, and then
rented again frcm an LA, this wou .d count as one spell not rer.ting
frcm an LA.
If the number of SpellS is greater than the total at Q5 enter NA code
9 in enough columns to reconcile the discrepancy. (Code NAS at parts
(a)-(c) as well if necessary).
Q6 Each spell can be multi-coded. For example, if someone left an
LA tensncy to live in his parents’ LA house and then moved out to
rent privately, both codes 1 and 3 should bs coded. In thlS
case, the date ●t (a) would be that when he moved in with his
