People working for e+yers under the Manpower <strong>Service</strong>s Commission’s<br />

C-nity Programme Schems (CPS) (most of whom are htWeen 1S <strong>and</strong> 24 <strong>and</strong><br />

had hen unemployed for over 6 months, or over 24 <strong>and</strong> unemployed for<br />

over a year). CPS supersedes the previ.am Ccmununity Enterprise<br />

Programms (CEP) <strong>and</strong> 8pecial Temper.a~ Employment Prograrfm.e(STEP) .<br />

People working on the Comnnmity Industry (CI) Schme.<br />

People working through the Young Workers Scheme.<br />

An employer can apply to the Dept of Employment for a subsidy - up to<br />

S15 a week as long as he pays the 16-18 yrs old L50 or less per week.<br />

Self employed persons receiving Enterprise Allowance - currently &40 per<br />

week for a year.<br />

‘Temporary ‘ sickness or injury of not !mre than 28 days at one go. If<br />

an informant has been sick for more than 28 days Q. 1(a)(i) should be<br />

coded 6.<br />

Code 6 includes: (Provided none of codes 3-5 applies) .<br />

1. Unpaid voluntary work (other than expenses ), including the MSC’s<br />

Voluntary Pro ject Prograrmre (VPP ).<br />

2. Unpaid work training eg physiotherapists, inch~ding that given to<br />

h<strong>and</strong>icapped people.<br />

3. People receiving redundancy payments who have no job to return to.<br />

4. Wives helping in husb<strong>and</strong>’s ksiness, but unpaid, provided they work<br />

less than 15 hours.<br />
